All Things Media was invited by Fairleigh Dickinson University’s (FDU) Director of Animation and Video Game Animation Programs, Robin Barkley, to present the Cadillac in Virtual Reality experience to a theater of Senior Thesis II students.
ATM's Programming Supervisor, Ryan Bailey, and 3D Supervisor, Jonathan Caro, discussed the project’s production pipeline and the many technical and creative challenges that were successfully navigated throughout. Students were given the opportunity to try out the Cadillac in VR experience for themselves, and ask questions relating directly to trade craft and strategy. Some first-time Virtual Reality users spent upwards of 10 minutes engulfed by the visual fidelity the team at ATM has produced.
Ryan Bailey also attended the Morris Hills Career Day, which was an awesome experience for both the students and All Things Media. The presentation was for students in the AVID program, a unique offering for students who will be the first in their family to attend college and are attempting to determine what field they would be interested in pursuing. Although the students signed up for each presenter's seminar before the event, there were so many interested in Cadillac in VR that students were lined up during their pizza lunch break to try out the experience and ask questions about ATM.
It was great to see the excitement and awe the experience brought to these students. Even something as rote to us as opening the trunk of a vehicle in VR left students gasping in amazement. Many of them mentioned they had no interest in the field prior to experiencing Cadillac in VR but would really like to pursue some form of future in the technology industry. The inspirational nature of the experience is a testament to our hard work and serves as an example of how All Things Media is poised to push the VR industry forward.
